What sits outside the headline price
The $0 plan's true cost is processing: 2.6% + 15¢ in-person on Free versus 2.4% + 15¢ on Premium, so a high-volume med spa can pay for the subscription purely in rate savings — or lose money staying free. Manual entry and card-on-file are 3.5% + 15¢ on EVERY tier, which is punishing for a memberships-and-packages med spa that stores cards. Afterpay is 6% + 30¢. Gift card load fee is 2.5% on Free and Plus, 0% only on Premium. Text marketing overage is 3¢/text on Plus and 1.5¢/text on Premium. Pricing is per location. Hardware is sold separately. NOTE: online processing showed inconsistently on the page (2.9% + 30¢ generally, 3.3% + 30¢ against Plus) — verify the online rate directly with Square before publishing it.

Clinical capability
Booking/POS only. No medical charting, no SOAP notes, no e-prescribing, no before/after photos, no consent form module. Not an EMR and not suitable as a standalone system for a clinical med spa.
Scheduling, point of sale and marketing only. No medical charting. A med spa performing injectables or laser treatments will need a separate EMR.
HIPAA
No HIPAA compliance or BAA statement appears on the Square Appointments pricing page. Square is not positioned as a HIPAA-covered platform for this product.
We record what the vendor states publicly. A published compliance claim is not the same as a signed business associate agreement — ask for the BAA in writing before you migrate patient data.
Correction policy. Square Appointments can change its pricing at any time without telling us. If what you were quoted differs from what is above, that is a defect on our side and we want the detail — send it over and we will recheck and republish with a new date. We do not remove unflattering facts at a vendor's request; we do correct wrong ones immediately.
